The story Behind Praying hands!!

In the 15th century, in a village near Nuremberg , Germany  there lived a goldsmith named Albrecht Durer, who had eighteen children. In order to keep food on the table for them, he had to work long hours at his trade, and at any other paying chore he could find.

Despite their poverty, two of Albrecht Durer the Elder's children had a dream. They both wanted to pursue their talent for art, but they knew that their father could never afford to send either of them to Nuremberg to study at the Academy. Their names were Albrecht and Albert Finally the two boys made a pact. They would toss a coin. The loser would go down into the nearby mines and, with his earnings, support his brother while he attended the academy. Then, when the brother who won the toss completed his studies, in four years, he would support the other brother at the academy, either with sales of his art work or, if necessary, by laboring in the mines.

They tossed a coin and Albrecht Durer won and went to Nuremberg . Albert went down into the dangerous mines and, for the next four years, financed his brother, whose work at the academy was an immediate sensation. Albrecht's etchings, woodcuts, and oils were even finer than those of most of his professors, and by the time he graduated, he was earning considerable fees for his commissioned works.

When Albrecht returned to his village, the Durer family held a celebratory dinner to mark his homecoming. After dinner, Albrecht raised a toast to his brother for the years of sacrifice that had enabled him to fulfill his ambition. His closing words were, "And now, Albert, blessed brother of mine, now it is your turn. Now you go toNuremberg to pursue your dream, and I will take care of you."

All heads turned to where Albert sat. He shook his lowered head and, holding up his hands, said softly: "No, brother. It is too late for me. Look what four years in the mines have done to my hands. The bones in every finger have been broken at least once, and I now suffer from arthritis so that I cannot even hold a glass to return your toast, much less wield a brush. No, brother, for me it is too late."

    A Prayer :Paulo Coelho!

      Lord, protect our decisions,

      Because making decision

      is a way of praying.

Give us the courage after our doubts,

to be able to choose between

      one road and another.

May our YES always be a YES

And our NO always be a NO.

Once we have chosen our road,

      May we never look back

nor allow our soul to be

      eaten away by remorse.

GOOD LUCK OR BAD LUCK : A STORY

There once was very poor man living in a village who had a very
fine horse. So fine, in fact, that the lord of the castle wanted to
buy it. But the old man always refused.
"To me this horse is not merely an animal. He's a friend. How
could I sell you my friend?"
One morning he went to the stable and found his horse gone.
All the villagers said, "We told you! You should have sold your
horse. Now he's been stolen instead. What terrible luck."
"Bad luck or good luck," the old man said. "Who can say?"
Everyone laughed at him. But 15 days later the horse returned,
followed by a whole herd of wild horses. He had escaped from
the stable, courted a young mare, and returned with the rest of the
      herd following behind!
          "What luck!" the villagers cried.
The old man and his son began training the wild horses. But a week
later the man's son broke his leg trying to train one of the horses.
"Bad luck," said his friends. "What are you going to do now
without your son to help you? You who are already so poor."
"Bad luck, good luck, who can say?" the old man replied.
A few days later an army belonging to the lord of the land
passed through the village and forced all the young men to
become soldiers. All... except the old man's son, because of his
      broken leg.

The true story of an old fisherman!

        THE OLD FISHERMAN

Our house was directly across the street from the clinic entrance of Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore . We lived downstairs & rented the upstairs rooms to out-patients at the Clinic.

One summer evening as I was fixing supper, there was a knock at the door. I opened it to see a truly awful looking man. 'Why, he's hardly taller than my eight-year-old,' I thought as I stared at the stooped, shriveled body.

But the appalling thing was his face, lopsided from swelling, red & raw. Yet, his voice was pleasant as he said,'Good evening. I've come to see if you've a room for just one night. I came for a treatment this morning from the eastern shore, & there's no bus 'till morning.'

He told me he'd been hunting for a room since noon but with no success; no one seemed to have a room. 'I guess it's my face. I know it looks terrible, but my doctor says with a few more treatments...'

For a moment I hesitated, but his next words convinced me, 'I could sleep in this rocking chair on the porch. My bus leaves early in the morning.' I told him we would find him a bed, but to rest on the porch. I went inside & finished getting supper. When we were ready, I asked the old man if he would join us. 'No thank you. I have plenty' And he held up a brown paper bag.

When I had finished the dishes, I went out on the porch to talk with him a few minutes. It didn't take a long time to see that this old man had an over sized heart crowded into that tiny body. He told me he fished for a living to support his daughter, her five children & her husband, who was hopelessly crippled from a back injury.

He didn't tell it by way of complaint; in fact, every other sentence was prefaced with thanks to God for a blessing. He was grateful that no pain accompanied his disease, which was apparently a form of skin cancer. He was thankful for the strength to keep going.

At bedtime, we put a camp cot in the children's room for him. When I got up in the morning, the bed linens were neatly folded, & the little man was out on the porch.

He refused breakfast, but just before he left for his bus, haltingly, as if asking a great favor, he said, 'Could I please come back & stay the next time I have a treatment? I won't put you out a bit. I can sleep fine in a chair.' He paused a moment & then added, 'Your ! children made me feel at home. Grownups are bothered by my face, but children don't seem to mind.' I told him he was welcome to come again.

The Power of Words (Frog Story)

A group of frogs were hopping contentedly through the woods, going about their froggy business, when two of them fell into a deep pit. All of the other frogs gathered around the pit to see what could be done to help their companions. When they saw how deep the pit was, they agreed that it was hopeless and told the two frogs in the pit that they should prepare themselves for their fate, because they were as good as dead.
Unwilling to accept this terrible fate, the two frogs began to jump with all of their might. Some of the frogs shouted into the pit that it was hopeless, and that the two frogs wouldn't be in that situation if they had been more careful, more obedient to the froggy rules, and more responsible. The other frogs continued sorrowfully shouting that they should save their energy and give up, since they were already as good as dead.
The two frogs continued jumping with all their might, and after several hours of this, were quite weary. Finally, one of the frogs took heed to the calls of his fellow frogs. Exhausted, he quietly resolved himself to his fate, lay down at the bottom of the pit, and died.
The other frog continued to jump as hard as he could, although his body was wracked with pain and he was quite exhausted. Once again, his companions began yelling for him to accept his fate, stop the pain and just die. The weary frog jumped harder and harder and, wonder of wonders, finally leaped so high that he sprang from the pit.
Amazed, the other frogs celebrated his freedom and then gathering around him asked, "Why did you continue jumping when we told you it was impossible?"
The astonished frog explained to them that he was deaf, and as he saw their gestures and shouting, he thought they were cheering him on. What he had perceived as encouragement inspired him to try harder and to succeed against all odds.
This simple story contains a powerful lesson. The book of Proverbs says, "There is death and life in the power of the tongue". Your encouraging words can lift someone up and help them make it through the day. Your destructive words can cause deep wounds; they may be the weapons that destroy someone's desire to continue trying - or even their life. Your destructive, careless word can diminish someone in the eyes of others, destroy their influence and have a lasting impact on the way others respond to them. Be careful what you say.
Speak life to (and about) those who cross your path. There is enormous power in words. If you have words of kindness, praise or encouragement - speak them now to, and about, others. Listen to your heart and respond. Someone, somewhere, is waiting for your words...

        Body Mind and Soul

        Body Mind and Soul
        • Everyone of us are made up of three components to our personality :body mind and soul.Body is the most external part of our personality ,we nourish it clean it, feed it,identify our self with it but it perishes and turns to mud and becomes nothing yet it is important to remember that body is an important tool in our search for truth .
        • There is a whole different world that exists inside us made up of our thoughts that rise from our mind formed by our past experiences and they shape our future life .controlling this flow of thoughts and sharpening our mind with total command over what it thinks is another important aspect of our search for truth.
        • Both the body and mind shine and act through the brilliance of the soul .Soul is that which connects us with each other, the universe and beyond. The closer we are to our soul the more we see the world as one entity .They say it is what is closer to  ultimate truth. How to identify with it is the basis for our search for truth.
        • We at truthseekers decided that all the posts we post from now on will be to strengthen these three aspects of our personality. There will be topics regarding strengthening our body mind and soul and through which we will try to get closer to the truth. I am very excited with this blog and hope we all experience bliss in our life. thanks for all ure encouragement.
